Golden Finch & Hummingbird for Wild Wednesday

Happy wild Wednesday! It's a rainy winter day here in Maryland so I thought it'd be nice to brighten things up with some summer bird photos. Hummingbirds often rested (and one year, even nested!) in our rose of Sharon bushes so we put the feeder right in front of them for easy access.

Last summer was my first year planting giant zinnias and they were a big hit with the butterflies and small birds, particularly the golden finches. God willing, I'll plant more giant zinnias this summer to continue the fun.

But for now, planting is just a dream. The snow from the blizzard is melting and it feels like spring but winter is definitely still here.

Thank you for visiting. I hope that you are safe and warm. May God bless you!

Hummingbird Nest Photos by Anna Horner for Wild Wednesday

Hummingbird in nest: Copyright © Anna Horner, 2014, used with permission
Last week I featured Anna's amazing hummingbirds in flight photos and this week she has kindly consented to share her sweet hummingbird nest photos. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I've never seen into a hummingbird's nest before so this aerial shot of the two eggs was a treat.

And, while not very cute yet, I was amazed to see the freshly hatched baby hummingbirds.

Heartfelt thanks to my dear cousin Anna for sharing her photos. May God bless her and may He bless you too!

Here to hummingbirds prepare for battle. Anna's feeders are very popular. I hope you enjoyed Anna's beautiful photos. She's doing this out of the kindness of her heart so if you did like her photos please comment with an encouraging word and I'll be sure to pass it on to her.

Anna also gave me permission to share a little series on the hummingbird's nest with eggs and freshly hatched hummingbirds so be sure to check in for future wild Wednesday posts if you'd like to see them. Hearty thanks to Anna for sharing her photos and praise to the Lord for creating such beautiful little creatures! May God bless Anna, her family, and may He bless you too!
