White Lilies for Good Friday

Easter Lily Rising: Copyright © Phyllis Wheeler, 2016
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 NIV

A blessed Good Friday to you! I wanted to do something special this floral Friday and was thrilled to find these white Easter lilies to photograph for you in place of my normal garden photos (which, God willing, will resume next week).

I like how the background lily is facing in a similar diagonal direction as the front one here.

The white background makes the green centers really stand out.

This lily is just starting to show its age but is still beautiful.

And this group of lilies has both buds and open flowers. I think the buds are pretty too.

God loves you! May He bless and keep you this Easter season and always!

Lilies for Good Friday

Lily Macro: Copyright © Phyllis Wheeler, 2015
A blessed Good Friday to you! I wanted to do something special for floral Friday since it falls on Good Friday this year. My husband kindly consented to let me use his excellent lily photo (second in today's post). We don't have any recent pure white lily photos but I thought these were beautiful and hope you enjoy them.

These pink and white flowers are my favorite of this type of lily.

On a recent trip to Longwood Gardens, PA, these lilies appeared to be nested in ferns and there were also a few tulips that were such a deep purple they almost appeared black.

Here is a different angle of some of the lilies from the same display.

And here's a whole flower of the same type in the first photo of this post. I love flowers, but I love Jesus more! If you want to know Him too, PeacewithGod.net is a great place to start and they have volunteers on hand to chat 24/7. May God bless you this Good Friday, Easter weekend and always!

Happy Easter & Resurrection Chapel Photos

Happy Easter, dear friends! May the joy of Jesus' resurrection fill your heart on this holy day and always! Today's photos are from the Washington National Cathedral's Resurrection Chapel, one of my favorite spots in the National Cathedral (along with the Holy Spirit Chapel and all of the amazing stained glass windows). I pray that they will bless you.
The Resurrection Chapel's mosaics are more impressive in person but you can get a general feel for them here. The one above and two below depict Jesus in Biblical scenes after rising from the dead.
You should be able to click on any photo to make it larger.
In person, the resurrection mosaics seem to shimmer with golden flecks.
The plaque in the photo above includes this Easter themed Bible verse:

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God." Colossians 3:1 (NIV)

May God bless you and yours this Easter and always!

Easter Good News & How to Become a Born Again Christian

Happiest Easter wishes dear friends! Christ is risen and eternal salvation is assured for those who believe in Him and follow Him as their Savior. As Billy Graham said, "God loves you! It makes no difference how deep in the mire of sin and transgression you have gone. He proved it by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you on the cross. At this moment you can receive Christ into your heart. God will give you this supernatural love until you love the whole world. That is the solution to the international problems we face at this hour. It is the solution to your personal problems - to let Christ come in. When Christ comes in, love comes in and love shines forth."

How to become a born again Christian:
"The Bible says that when we put our faith in Christ, God pours his love into our hearts. God forgives our sins and gives us eternal life. You need to admit that you are a sinner and receive Him by faith as your Lord and Savior. You can begin a relationship with God by praying a simple prayer like this:

'O God, I am a sinner. I'm sorry for my sin. Forgive me. I want to turn from my sin. I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior; I confess Him as my Lord. From now on I want to follow Him. In Jesus' name, Amen."

If you prayed this prayer today heaven is rejoicing! If you comment below or email me I'll be glad to answer questions about your new Christian life. You can also visit www.billygraham.org/decision to sign up for a free weekly e-mail devotional, email help@bgea.org for help from Billy Graham's Evangelistic Association or call 1-877-247-2426 (toll free) Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to midnight or Saturday from 10:00 am to midnight for help, resources for New Christians or more information.

May God bless you this Easter and always!

Easter Cat Photo Fun

I had planned a fun feline Easter photo session with rabbit ears and Easter eggs but with the excavation craziness it just didn't happen. So today (this is actually being posted on 4/26) when I decided it was time to put our Easter card away (thank you Teresa, Carla, Mama & Snowball!) I thought it was a good opportunity to sneak in some fun Easter cat photos. Hope you enjoy them! You can see our St. Patrick's day fun feline photo session photos (with leprechaun hats and shamrock necklaces) here.

I thought the pastels of this fabulous afghan made by my dear friend Renee (thank you!) were kind of Easter-y.

Here both cats are smelling the Easter card. Apparently cats must investigate mysterious cards with rabbit covers.

The other two photos with the Easter card were adjusted for brightness and contrast but I decided to leave one in the original state. I think she looks all mysterious as a black cat in an almost black background.

May the God of all peace bless you dear reader!
