Moose, Bunny and Baby for Wild Wednesday

Happy wild Wednesday! Moose the cat loves to tour the garden with me. She doesn't seem to have any hunting instinct so the yard birds and bunnies are safe.

Moose is a geriatric cat, at 19-20 years of age. At one point she weighed 13 pounds but now she hovers around 6 pounds. Her abundant fur hides her extreme slimness but other than arthritis and random dementia related yowling she seems very healthy and happy.

This cute and wild yard bunny is enjoying a cool shady spot.

Inside, my little Baby cat (who turned 15 this year) relaxes in her special cat bed. Even though she looks much smaller than Moose the cat, Baby currently outweighs her. Moose just looks larger because of all her extra fur.

Moose is more photogenic but Baby is my favorite cat of all time. I think she's adorable even in a blurry picture. Few people ever get to see her outside of photos because she's feral born and tends to hide whenever we have company but she's devoted to me and I adore her.

Happy St Patrick's Day! Funny Moose the Cat Photos

Happy Saint Patrick's day from me and the always funny and cute Moose the cat! We wish you the blessings of Numbers 6:24-25: "The Lord bless you and keep you;the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."

If a cat were a leprechaun, Moose would make a cute one. I didn't realize that her eyes needed cleaning until after the photo shoot but don't worry, I'll take care of her. Can you believe, God willing, she'll be celebrating her 19th birthday soon?

I borrowed my husband's camera for this shoot and the photographic lesson of the day was that most of the flash photos were far better than the non flash photos.

But sometimes the flash is just too much. Despite the flash glare, I thought this photo was hilarious. My husband lent Moose one of his old shirts that has an Irish flare and I snapped the photo just before she laid down for a nap.

This was one of the non flash photos. Still funny but kind of blurry. But she looks kind of like an Irish burrito stuffed into that green table runner.

Christmas Cat Santa and Reindeer

I love Google's magic photos. I don't know how they did it but they made the photo of Moose the Cat (above) look like she's in a snowstorm or snow globe. Cuteness!

While these funny and cute Christmas cat pictures were taken earlier in December, I'm dating the post Christmas eve. Although we had plans to spend our Christmas Eve differently, poor Moose was gravely ill and we had to take her to the emergency vet. Because she's so old they didn't want to risk putting her under so she's going to be on some serious pain killers and antibiotics for a while.

I pray she's still with us in the upcoming new year. Moose is a fun cat, full of love and willing to wear all my crazy costumes in exchange for treats and petting. She loves a warm lap and is fond of sleeping right on top of heater grates. It's hard to tell in this picture, but she's dressed as a reindeer.

Moose even tolerated red reindeer antlers!

Mostly she likes to sleep though so for this photo I just surrounded her usual sleeping place with poinsettia garlands and held the antlers up with one hand while taking the photo with the other. Moose the cat is a good sport!

Baby cat (who's also old but younger than Moose) wasn't interested in photos this Christmas. We're happy she's still with us too. Between her age and the seizures we're thankful for each extra day we get with her.

Happy Halloween & Funny Cat Pictures

Moose the cat wasn't as cooperative as usual for her Halloween photo shoot this year but I thought some of these photos were hilarious. I hope you get a smile from them too.

She shook off the skirt faster than I could click the camera but it took her a bit longer to shake off the orange headband wig.

Baby cat mostly just wrestled with the skirt. She eventually took great relish in destroying it.

Moose the cat got a little tangled in the skirt and hair but I made sure she was amply rewarded with treats after the photos were finished.

If you click to enlarge this photo you can see Moose the cat's eyes peering outward from under the skirt.

Moose may not enjoy the costumes but she loves her orange basket (which I got at a thrift store for $1!).

Happy Halloween Cats and Flowers

Happy Halloween and harvest time! Unlike easygoing Moose the cat, my feral born cat (Baby) doesn't take well to costumes so I usually just place props around her for photo sessions. As promised in Wednesday's post, today's post includes viking and cowgirl Halloween cat photos too. Enjoy!

Because Halloween also falls on floral Friday, I thought I'd include these pretty Halloween inspired flowers my dear husband bought me.

Moose looks fierce in this photo but really she was just eyeing the bag of post photo session treats.

Baby looks even fiercer but she was just yawning. She eventually fell asleep with her head resting on the (totally safe) battle axe prop.

My husband bought this blonde wig and cowgirl hat for Moose and I thought this was a funny photo. She got extra treats for this one.

Moose the Cat Rocks a Sombrero

Welcome to the Halloween edition of wild Wednesday! I hope you enjoy these cute and funny photos of Moose the cat in a sombrero. She's nineteen years old and mostly likes sleeping but she knows if she lets me take photos of her she'll get treats so she plays along.

I thought she had a good stare off face in this photo

Here she was looking up at our other cat but you can see the sombrero's colors best in this shot.

And here she was settling down for a little nap.

But before dozing off she stretched out one paw dramatically. I had a whole red background photo session area prepared but when the cat is willing I take photos wherever she is. These were on the floor in our living room. She was enjoying the sunbeam on the carpet before (and after) the photo shoot.

Funny Feline Fourth of July Photos

Here's Moose, our elderly cat, all dressed up in her Fourth of July finery. She looks like she's angry but she's not. That's part of what make her holiday photos so funny for us. We know she's just a big, hilarious softie. Here, she's just waiting for the yummy treats she knows follow the Independence Day photo session.

This is Moose before I added the Independence Day garland to her patriotic photo session fabric background (which got wrinkled because she rubbed herself all over it after I popped her up on the chair).

This was the first of Moose's photos. I wasn't sure how long she'd last so got a quick Fourth of July garland shot in before moving her to the patriotic background draped over the chair. I think she's hilarious and cute but, of course, I'm biased.

My patriotic photographer husband got this nighttime Fourth of July shot of my Baby cat. She's approaching the feline geriatric years (Moose is already deep in them) but she'll always be a baby to me. She weighs about seven pounds and has dog like devotion even if she's not as easygoing as Moose. Moose will wear hats and costumes with good humor but Baby, well, we just lay the props around her and hope for the best.

Fourth of July Haiku

Independence day:

may God bless America

and may He bless you!

Moose knows that whenever there's camera flash or costumes she will get treats.

She may be 19 years old but she's all about the treats. I hope this Independence day brings you treats too - the treats of God's favor, enjoying freedom, life in America (or wherever you live), and the love of precious family, friends and pets.

My heartfelt thanks go to every veteran and military service member who has sacrificed for our greater good. May God bless America and may He bless you too!

Happy Halloween Funny Cat Photos

I'd hoped to have time to do another shoot before Halloween but with hurricane Sandy beating at my house and the county predicting widespread and longstanding power outages, I figure I should write and set this to post while I still have power. My cats have learned that after crazy costumes and photographs they usually get treats so they didn't seem to mind their Halloween costumes and photo shoot this year (although they certainly liked the treats more!). Hope you enjoy the photos and get a nice smile out of it. If you're in the storm's path, I pray that you will remain safe and grow closer to the Lord in this trial. With or without power, I'll be praying for all in the path of the storm and for the emergency and essential personnel who are out in the midst of it for public safety. May God bless them and may He bless you too!

The first photo features Moose, our elderly cat, and the second, Baby, our "young" cat. They're 16 and 12 years old (I think). There used to be a huge weight difference between them but Moose lost some and Baby gained some so now they're 11 and 8 pounds and more reasonably matched in that department (they don't like each other but they don't hate each other and have these rather lame cat squabbles).

Even though Baby is the prettier cat in person, Moose is the more photogenic (and hilarious) cat. She always looks mad, even when she's so happy she's purring and drooling.

Here you can see Moose with some of our Halloween decorations. She doesn't care for the flash but is a good sport about photos. My Simplifying Home 8 Week Journey: Week 5, Day 7

This week did not go according to plan. But God is good! And He saw me through a trying week. Instead of going by my prioritized list, I had to take care of some health challenges and a cat challenge. Or should I say... a cat accident. Moose the cat knocked down an air purifying Chinese evergreen houseplant and a pile of pillows off of the taller dresser. Why did she think she'd fit up there with the plant and all those pillows? Only Moose knows.

On the day Moose knocked the plant and other stuff down I was able to scoop some of the dirt up and stick the plant back in the pot (it had fallen completely out) but (because of health challenges) it was another two days before I was able to deal with the area. I hate to let dirt settle but sometimes there's no choice.

Normally, I choose a smaller, more manageable area for these posts but dirt from the houseplant fell far and wide so it ended up really being multiple projects:

Clean/organize/clutter clearing of tallest dresser
Clean/organize/clutter clearing of medium dresser
Clean/organize/clutter clearing of hubby's nightstand
Clean/organize/clutter clearing of chair's side table
Clean/organize/clutter clearing of floor
Clean/organize/clutter clearing between dressers
Clean/organize/clutter clearing between nightstand and dresser
Clean, move and vacuum under chair
Repot houseplant

Because of the bits of houseplant dirt scattered all over the place, I tackled the first eight projects listed above as if they were one. I cleared the whole area then cleaned the dirty non furniture stuff. I cleaned the various pieces of furniture. I used a dustpan and brush to get up as much of the loose dirt as possible and then vacuumed thoroughly. Before I put anything back I determined whether we really love, need or use it so the result is a much nicer, clutter-free area. Even if it wasn't originally on my list of things to do this week.

Above is another "after" photo of the newly organized corner of our bedroom from another angle. I should probably move those dahlias (in the little clear glass jar) before Moose has another accident.

Just in case you're wondering... in the first two photos you can see the edge of my chair. It's positioned so I can watch the hummingbirds at their favorite feeder. Also, to me, the lion and the lamb are symbolic of heaven, peace and God's love so I like to have them kind of hugging each other.

Heartie the Cat for Wild Wednesday

Happy wild Wednesday! I met this gorgeous big cat on a recent walk and thought he was so wonderful I had to share him with you. He inspected me with his serious stare (made less serious by the lovely heart shape made when his front paws are placed together as in the photo above). I don't actually know his name but I think of him as Heartie.

After examining me for a moment he must have decided I was ok as he came running towards me and rubbed against my legs doing that lovely tail hug thing some cats do (they wrap their tails around your ankle or wrist like a little hug). Of course I responded by giving him a good petting session which he seemed to love.

I've never seen Heartie before even though I occasionally walk by the house he was guarding. I wonder if he's a foster cat as I suspect the house he was guarding belongs to an animal fostering family (I see lots of different pets there). If he is a foster cat, his foster family and any animal welfare agencies trying to place him are welcome to use these photos in finding him a forever home. If not his family is still welcome to the photos for personal use.

Maybe someday I'll get brave and knock on their door to find out Heartie's story. They have (or are long term fostering) a little dog who needs the wheelchair apparatus you can see on the right side of the photo above. So I suspect the family is full of kindhearted people.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Crafts and Cat

Happy St. Patrick's Day! May God bless you and yours today and always! I doodled the above inspirational art with the words lucky, blessed and fortunate in honor of the holiday and have it in a little black frame by our computer.

I did a bit of freehand quasi-calligraphy for the cards we mailed to our closest family members (leaving space at the top for a salutation and below for a handwritten note and our signatures) and decorated them with festive St. Patrick's day themed stickers.

Moose is getting on in age and is currently suffering quite a bit from arthritis so I didn't put a costume on her this year (I'll post links to previous years below though) but did manage to sneak in this green "crown" for a St. Patrick's Day photo. It's really a pedicure toe separator but I thought it was cute.

I'm wearing four-leaf clover earrings and thanking God for all the blessings He's allowed in my life. How are you celebrating St. Patrick's Day?
